4.18.07 - Wagner Wins at Matusaka!
This last wednesday the TrackIR Stars of Sim karting brought to you by Wagner Race Products went overseas for the foruth round at the Matusaka circuit, located in Japan. Things started off in a quick way with Carl Modoff qualifying on pole with a 38.925 which gave him the track record. Second was Wagner only 3 tenths off the pace, followed closely by Campbell, Matt Nevoso, and David Cole rounding out the fast five.
The first of the three heats was exciting. Early race action dropped Modoff to the back in the AB server, while Phil Carlson walked away with his first ever victory. Wagner would win the AB heat followed by Cole, Boulianne, Cook, and Graves. In the CD server, Campbell finished second to Carlson, followed by Matt Nevoso, Bouchard, and Josh Robertson recording his first top 5
The 2nd heat saw great battles towards the front of both heats, in the AC heat it was Campbell and Modoff going for the win, with Campbell edging out Modoff in the end, followed by Cole Bouliane and Garrett Napier. In the BD heat it was once again Nevoso going for the lead, but this time it was against Wagner. After a hard-fought battle, Nevoso edged out the young Wagner for the win, Cook finished third, followed by Osterholt and Casey Graves. Johnston did not start this heat due to fuel separation issues.
The third heat was the one to decide it all. The points were close so a win in the third heat could mean big things for your starting spot. The AD heat saw Nevoso and Johnston rocket out front to lead early, with Modoff catching both of them. About halfway through Modoff made a slight mistake, putting him to the back. On the last lap Johnston went for the winning move on Nevovo, only to make a mistake and demote himself to the fourth spot. Nevoso would go on to win, followed by Boulianne, Dismore Jr, Johnston, and Cole.
Up next was the main event, after the points calculations, it was Derek Wagner on the pole in the WagnerRaceProuducts.Com Kosmic entree. Starting in second was Nevoso followed by Campbell, Cook, and Boulianne. The start was a hairy one, with drivers having to dodge left and right to get through the mess that is known as turn one. After a few laps it was Nevoso out front in a commanding lead of over 8 seconds over Wagner. This was all until Nevoso, in cruise control, rammed into the back of a dead vehicle. Wagner was able to scoot by and eventually take the win, followed closely by Casey Graves, who seems to be on a roll as of late. Nevoso would end up with a third place finish and a broken heart. Fourth was Campbell, followed by Caouette, Boulanger, Bouchard, Johnston, Osterholt, and Rzadzinski rounding out your top 10.
The points stay about the same, with Cook still out in the lead. However Wagner and Napier continue to stalk him down. With the season not even half over, anything could happen at this point. And I am sure it will.
Next week the TrackIR Stars of Sim Karting heads up north to the new CartBC Circuit. With the track being new to all the drivers, it should make for a very interesting race to say the least. See you there next wednesday!
